Amanda Jovaag, MS
Associate Researcher
Amanda Jovaag is an Associate Researcher with the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute
in the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She holds a Masters degree in
population health sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has been working for the
university since 2003.
Ms. Jovaag is currently working on the "Making Wisconsin the Healthiest State" project,
a research and translation effort funded by the Wisconsin Partnership Fund for a Healthy
Future. The objectives of this four-year project are to identify the most effective investments
to help Wisconsin become the nation's healthiest state and to monitor Wisconsin's progress
toward achieving this goal with less health disparity. Ms. Jovaag also serves as an epidemiology
consultant to the Wisconsin Bureau of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
Prior to her current projects, Ms. Jovaag created an evidence-based public health practice Web
site for Wisconsin's Division of Public Health; assisted with the surveillance and evaluation of
Wisconsin's Tobacco Prevention and Control Program; and assisted in the creation of the Wisconsin
County Health Rankings.
