Jessica Athens
PhD Student
Jessica Athens is a first-year
graduate student in the department of Population Health Sciences. She received her bachelor's degree from Lawrence
University and a master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has
previously worked with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, the Wisconsin Coordinating Council on
Nicaragua, and the International Food Policy Research Institute. Currently, Jessica works as a project assistant in
the Population Health Institute on the County Health Rankings. For her research, she is particularly interested in
looking at how the built environment affects health.
