About AQORN

AQORN is an informal research group open to University of Wisconsin faculty, staff, and students interested in health care decision making, access to care, quality of care, and health outcomes.  The group is led by Dr. Maureen Smith, a faculty member in the department of Population Health Sciences and Family Medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Research Activities

Our research projects include studies of access to care and health outcomes in the near elderly, cancer patients’ preferences for uncertain outcomes, older adults and specialty care use in managed care, and quality of life for stroke patients.  Other activities include student-led research on shared decision making, health literacy, continuity of care, clinical practice guidelines, etc.

Lunch

Our primary group activity is a lunch where members working on an AQORN project present meeting abstracts or manuscripts in progress. Students also present their dissertation research if Dr. Smith is on their committee. Each lunch is required to end with chocolate.

Recent Publications

Our recent publications include journal articles published in health services and clinical research journals.
