The Department of Population Health Sciences is home to world-class research programs tackling the causes of morbidity and mortality affecting the health of the population, developing and applying new methods for measuring health, and analyzing public and clinical health policies.

These multidisciplinary programs study the effects and interactions of genetic traits; biologic and metabolic processes; pathogens; pollutants; lifestyles; behaviors; economic social and physical environments; and public health and health care systems on the health of populations.

Students in the M.S. and Ph.D. programs may choose to concentrate their studies in one of the three following areas, although all students are required to take courses in each.
