Biography:

Marty Kanarek is Professor of Population Health Sciences and Environmental Studies. He received his Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of California Berkeley and his M.P.H. in Environmental Health from the University of Minnesota. He worked at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 1972-78 before coming to Wisconsin. He currently serves as Chair of the Graduate Program in Population Health and Vice Chair of the Department and Chair of the Gaylord Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies Certificate Program for Undergraduates. His research interests include environmental epidemiology -- indoor and outdoor air pollution, lead poisoning prevention, PCB and mercury contaminants in fish, drinking water and cancer, environmental tracking and other studies of the human health effects of pollution.
