Biography:

Lorraine Meisner received her Ph.D. in Genetics from the University of Chicago in 1966.  She has been a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 1968.

Dr. Meisner's research centers around identification of genetic changes associated with neoplastic development, and evaluation of their significance.  This specifically involves linking epidemiologic data to specific alterations identified by fluorescent in-situ hybridization (FISH) to identify and quantify genetic changes associated with malignant transformation.  She is also involved in research to evaluate the causes and frequency of cytogenetic aberrations associated with abnormal somatic development resulting in birth defects.
