Carissa Gottlieb
Masters Student
Carissa Gottlieb is a Project Assistant with the Population Health Institute and a first-year graduate student in
the Population Health program. Her work at the Institute is primarily in the development of a
Population Health website funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Carissa received her
undergraduate degree in Psychology from Bates College, where she carried out an honors thesis
examining memory formation in a rat model. She has conducted research on traditional methods of childbirth in Ghana,
amphetamine addiction in a rat model, and veterinary orthopedics, has worked as the office manager of an
endocrinology practice in Washington, DC, and is currently a volunteer in the UW Hospital ER. Carissa has multiple areas of
interest including the epidemiology of neurodevelopmental disorders, global health, and maternal/child health.
